Bursary report: 2017

Updated: Jun 22, 2020

In 2017 the Akili Trust supported 24 students (13 boys and 11 girls) at 16 different secondary schools at a total cost of 1,244,185 ks, almost £10,000 (subject to exchange rate fluctuations).

The average cost of a bursary in 2017 was 51,841ks (about £400) ranging from 63,396 (£460) to 46,000ks (£333). After some years of steep increases in school fees, as we have reported on previously, the Kenyan government has now imposed a cap on secondary school fees and we are expecting them to level off in the future.
