It is a challenge to ensure that each library has a local network of working computers as environmental conditions really impact on performance. We have put glass windows into the rooms where the computers are to minimise the dust. Each library has a laptop for staff use and a network of four computers for training courses and general use.
With a grant from the Leggatt Trust, we were able to employ two computer trainers for six months to teach the librarians, school staff and students to use basic applications on the computers. This was a very successful starting point and both libraries now run ongoing training programmes.
