Akili Newsletter, January 2016

Happy New Year to all our supporters and friends

To cheer up these rather dismal January days we thought we’d share these photos from the libraries with you.

Our trustee Jenny Pitkin visited the libraries for a couple of weeks from 29 December and sent us regular updates of her meetings and activities. She is currently travelling in Ethiopia but once she returns we will send you a full newsletter with details of the stories behind the photos and more information from her trip. Jenny was able to sort out some minor and major building works and computer issues, but her key purpose was to meet the bursary students during their Christmas holidays

The librarians are now busy with the selection process for this year’s students, which for the first time will include one bursary allocation for the new school we are working with, Watamu Primary.

Website

Our new website is almost ready to be launched so many thanks to Max Guglielmino from BGZ for all his patient work in the design and migration to the new website.

Events programme

Many thanks to Benedict and his team for the excellent quiz night in November – and to all who participated so enthusiastically. We raised £2000. Our next newsletter will have the details of the forthcoming events for this year.

Best wishes to Carly Hardman, our newest trustee, who will be visiting the libraries with her family in February.
