Dabaso Library Staff

The key feature of the Akili libraries is that they are staffed on a full time basis.  Our librarians are local people who we have trained to manage the library and work with the students in the school.  They are paid on a local Kenyan salary. Each library has a man and a woman on the staff team, which we feel is a vital step towards equality.

Stephen Yongo was the Trust's first librarian and worked in Dabaso since the opening of the library. He was funded by the Trust to do a Certificate in Library Studies at Mombasa Polytechnic, which he completed in 2008. He left this post in December 2009 to further his studies in Nairobi.

There is a new post for a temporary computer trainer in each library.
